Turning Generosity Into Opportunity for Students

At The Outlet Youth Center, our mission is simple yet powerful: provide a safe space where young people feel supported, valued, and encouraged to grow. Every day after school, students walk through our doors looking for connection, guidance, and opportunity. Thanks to our community, they find all that and more. One of the most meaningful ways the community supports this work is through The Outlet’s Sponsor a Student Program.

This initiative gives individuals, families, churches, civic groups, and businesses the opportunity to make a direct investment in a young person’s future. Sponsorship helps cover the real and growing costs behind offering high-quality, free after-school programming. These include things like project supplies, learning materials, snacks, a daily hot meal, and assistance with basic needs. On the surface, these may seem like small items, but for a student in need, they make a tremendous difference.

To make giving accessible to everyone, the program offers three levels of support:

  • $30 per month covers one month of snacks, supplies, and learning materials for one student

  • $50 per month supports one month of snacks, supplies, materials, and daily hot meals for a student.

  • $70 per month provides snacks, supplies, materials, daily meals, and assistance with basic needs — such as shoes, glasses, or clothing — for one student.

Every level meets a real need and makes an impact.

When someone sponsors a student, they are doing far more than helping with operating costs. They are providing a young person with a place to belong, a safe, consistent environment where they are known and supported. The Outlet offers homework help, social-emotional guidance, leadership development, recreation, creative programming, and a hot meal each day. For many youth, this is the brightest part of their weekday. For some, it meets physical and emotional needs that are otherwise unmet.

In the 2024-2025 school year, we served 184 students in Fulton County, and we’ve already seen significant growth halfway through the current school year. As interest grows and more young people seek a safe place after school, the need for additional sponsors is greater than ever. A small donation that might otherwise be spent on a few takeout dinners or a monthly subscription can transform a student’s month, providing meals, encouragement, and access to opportunities they would not have otherwise.

Our goal for 2026 is clear: make sure every student who needs The Outlet can attend at no cost. No waitlist, no barriers, no student turned away. If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in your community but don’t have the time to volunteer, sponsoring a student is the perfect way to step in. By choosing to give monthly, quarterly, or even once a year, you become a reliable partner in keeping our doors open, students fed, and opportunities flowing. It’s a simple act with an outsized impact, ensuring that young people in our own backyard have the resources, encouragement, and stability they need to thrive. Anyone looking for a meaningful way to give back this year is invited to partner with us.
